I would go with 2 MP10's so you can get more random flows, I have the same tank being shipped and plan on 2 Mp10's I have one now.

yea if your only 36 inches long, i would recommend the 2 mp10s, anyhting bigger than 48" long, then go with the 40s

What do you want to keep? If you want to do a SPS heavy tank, I would do 1 MP40 and 1 MP10, otherwise probably 2 MP10's.
Vortechs are amazing btw... I would like a second MP40 myself for my 90!

2 mp 10s... They will give you more flow per dollar than the MP40 and more flow total. As well as a better distribution of the flow.

In addition to the fact that you will get a better value, you will also hear less noise. The MP10 is WAY WAY WAY quieter than the mp40. You never hear noise complaints on mp10 and mp60, it's only on the 40s.

Two Mp10's. I had one MP 40 for a 50 gallon 48 long and it had to be turned way down. To be honest, I would think about other things as well before making such an investment. Will you ever be upgrading to a larger tank? I went from that 50 gallon to a 120 and now have two MP 40's. I think that was a reasonable upgrade and most of us do it sooner, or later. You don't want to be stuck with two MP 10's if you think that an upgrade might be in your future.

I don't think he'd ever be STUCK with an Mp10. Resale is very likely :)
