Ok I have a 24g nano. I have the HQI hood. I just recetnly moved so thinking of going topless and getting rid of having a closed hood.

I am looking for suggestions. I want the lighting to be HQI and have the moonlights at night. So please help me in the right direction. I am new to the lighting stuff so just want to get a good laundry list of what I should be looking at Thanks Everyone!!!!

If I want it to attach to the tank.
Was thinking of this one.. Thoughts?

That looks like a decent choice.

Whatever light you choose (to mount or hang), I would recommend using a DIY mesh screen cover that you can build easily & it's very cheap. This will let you have a top on it for jumpers but won't disturb the lighting going into the tank. It will also give you the benefits of the air/gas exchange that an open top gives you. I love mine after putting it on my 70g cube, I have a MH pendant over it, no issues at all & all my corals are happy as ever & all my fish are alive n' well!

You can def get all the materials you need (framing, frame corners, spline, spline roller) from Home Depot or Lowes and just get the 1/4 mesh via BulkReefSupply: Clear 1/4" Screen Netting 6.5' x 2.5' - English

Here's the vid on the "how to" and a pic of my top.

I have some 175 MH that are in a hood. I've been thinking of doing mine topless as well. Does anyone have some good DIY ideas?
