Little background: I had 2 fish die but it is believed that they were not very healthy upon arrival. I'm looking to replace them. Currently in my tank is 1 juvenile purple firefish and 1 juvenile occ. clown. Inverts include a coral banded shrimp, 2 stripe legged hermits and your typical CUC. They are going in a 29gal (see signature for tank).

I'm shopping locally to avoid the stressers of shipment to give the fish the best possible chances. I bought a small plastic "shipment container" and a battery powered airstone/pump to help with the trip home.

I already have my mind made up about one....it's the 2nd that I'm not certain of.
    Known:
Local LFS has a nice, similarly sized black occ. clown that isn't outrageously priced. They also have some midnight clowns, snowflakes and a platinum. None of which I can justify money-wise but they sure are attractive.

    Unknown:
I want a lower tank dwelling inhabitant. Something like:
    Diamond or yellow watchman goby
    Warpaint clown goby
    Starry blenny
    Yellow Headed jawfish

    Ideas, suggestions or recommendations?

clowns should be ok as long as you get them both about the same size since they are both small.

for a bottom dwelling occupant jawfish are definitely awesome!

I like the looks of the starry blennies myself, but I already have a lawnmower in my 75 and I dont think my mantis would place nice in my 29. definitely cool looking creatures though.

I'll call the LFS today and see what they have in stock as far as blennies/gobies go and to secure the black occ. clown.

yellow watchman are really cool fish. I have one myself. They have a ton of personality. They're pretty skittish at first, but he'll warm up to you.

+1 on the Yellow watchmen or YH Jawfish both super cool & fun fish. I have both in my tank, just remember you must have a top for the jawfish especially. I also have two green clown goby's, you'll rarely see them but they are very cool looking. I've had mine a few months and maybe see them once or twice a week during feeding time.

I also am a huge fan of the flame hawk, they are hilarious. if you get them small they usually don't disturb your inverts.

I have a falco hawkfish & he is turd. Bossy but not the point of hurting other fish, but his presence is sure known. He hasnt bothered my emerald's, sally lightfoot or mostly hidden snapping shrimp, but peppermints no longer reside at my house.

    I've got a 29JBJ so a top won't be a problem.

YWG and a juvy black occ. clown are being held...I will pick up on Friday. Looks like I'll be cranking up my QT tonight to get the water right.

Would you bother with an airstone/plastic tank for an in-town trip (hour-ish)? I got it more for longer trips in case I purchased something outside of town.
