Has anyone ever seen or built a water bridge without drilling the tanks? I have two 180's that I want to do a bridge between them but the tanks are glass and don't want to drill them. Basically it would be an overflow box from one tank to the other one with a major problem if it breaks siphon. Anyone ever seen or done one?

I think for your idea to work the tanks would have to be at different hights. You could have them share a common sump if a large total water volume is what you desire.

The bridge isn't for increased water volume. They will share a sump with the entire system approaching 500 gallons. The bridge is more for the looks and novelty than anything else. The only thing they do is let the fish swim in more water and transverse back and forth. It won't work if the tanks are at different levels because the water would flood the lower tank since it would want to be at equal levels in both tanks. Its basically turning one tank into an overflow box for the other tank and suction keeps the water in the bridge. With a "normal" bridge its simply a drilled hole in both tanks with a horizontal pipe connecting the two tanks. Even then the water level will be the same height in both tanks.

Yes. Just wondering if anyone knew of any drawbacks to making one. The metal parts in it would have to be done differently because of the saltwater and corrosion.

I'd love to see how it would look when finished!
