HI, I bought 2 peppermint shrimp about 24 hours for my jbj 28g nanocube. I want to do a 10% water change for my tank now. How long should I wait to do this after just putting in 2 of these guys.

    THX :drummer:

They're very sensitive to sudden changes in certain elements/components.I think PH is one as well as salinity. If your mix water isn't spot on I'd make sure you introduce the new water very slowly- ie.,airline tube drip. They've been through a bit already with acclimation to your tank.

Well if parameters are bad do a water change now or adjust parameters and then drip acclimate; if the parameters are pretty good then i dont think you should worry about it

I never drip acclimate. When you are transporting, ammonia in the water builds up and lowers the PH making the ammonia less toxic to the animal. By drip acclimating you are slowly increasing the PH which increases the toxicity of that ammonia causing more stress or even death. Of course a drastic swing in ph or salinity is never good either but for most of the invertabrates we use are intertidal and can handle those shifts easily.I always test the bag water for salinity and PH before I dump the animal in to make sure its not too drastic a change. The negatives of drip acclimating far outway the positives for me.
