    I used a Sharpie and have my sump gallonage levels marked permanently on the side for easy reference. I started this 9 years ago when I built the sump and was topping off by hand so I didn't fill it too high in case of a power outage and potential flooding issues.

    These are all very good ideas! I'm still doing the jiggle to get the siphon to start sucking out the water, then adding the new water back in.

    There are some great ideas here!

    I hook a hose up to the Emergency high water drain in my main sump- which goes to my floor basement drain; I siphon the amount needed out of my sump, going after the detritus as mush as possible.

    I then use a Mag3 (think it is), to pump the new SW out of my mising cointainer back in to the sump.

    It helps to have your basement sump on a stand when siphoning- gravity ya know.

    I can do this without ever shuting down my main pump on my DIY sump (50g)

    I don't lift anything anymore, no buckets, no dumping, etc.
