    what about live rock that is nicely cured? will that still spike me!i!i!i!??? oh and the tank seems to be leveling out fine added a new filter w/carbon and a brand new poly-filter... anemones still a bit frail but they have looked worse in the past week...i think ill be fine...just will take time.. thank you all for the help!;D;D;D

    i do a 10%water change every week. iuse reef cry. almost never use additives. i have lots of rock never mess with my filtration and my tank runs like a iron clad clock

    When adding new rock to to a established you should use base rock. The new rock will cause the tank to go through a nitrogen cycle no matter if you use base or cured live rock, base rock would be the best to use. There will be very little die off and you not be importing any creatures or troublesome aiptasia into your tank.

    even base rock will make it cycle!!!!????? hmmm so i guess i should only stick small rocks one at a time in

    anytime something has to cure a cycle can start, doesn't mean it 100% will but then again a cycle can technically happen when a hermit crab poops
