ok so heres a question.. i have had several freshwater tanks.. so the process to me is familiar there... as i did with my freshwater tanks i take gallon milk jugs and fill them up let them stand for 48-72 hours to help get the clorhine and other chemicals we put in out... i was wondering if you do the same thinigs with salt water.. because u dont want to have to go buy 35 gallons or more everytime u do a change out.....as it is i have 10 milk jugs full of water sitting here first 3 days i leave uncapped and the next 3 days i cap it and then for 3 days i have a salt combo i use to get the salinity close and airrate it.. am i doin the steps wrong for salt water preperation?

I'm having a little trouble following exactly what you do. What many people do, including myself, is get the RO/DI water in a bucket or whatever you are using, I add some salt, heat it and check the salinity in a few hours, add salt to achieve the correct salinity and let it sit over night to stabilize, then it's all set.

basically i let it sit for about 5 days then add the salt get it to the salinity level the air is to help the salt dissolve a lil faster

well, you only need to do 10-15% water changes. so do this every few weeks depending on how many fish you have, or how good of a skimmer you have. use RO/DI water, not tap. use RO at least from a machine at the grocery store.
EDIT: an ro/di unit will pay for itself quickly with a 75 gallon tank.
