On small tanks prefilters tend to be pretty quiet as the sump pumps are not that big and don't create massive flow. I think I've seen some do durso mods on hang on the backs, not sure. Oh yeah, check out the 'weir' style overflow in the DIY forum. Start a new thread and maybe we can figure it out.

Speaking of evaporation, how much evaporation can you expect with a 120 gl tank?

Just curious. I had a tremendous water bill and I'm trying to figure out where all it came from.

So I guess I could easily be loosing 1 gl per day. So with the ro'di that would be around 4 gls per day. It surely does all add up quickly.

Sorry about that John. My understanding is that when using a Ro/Di system that for every gal. of filtered water it takes 4-5 gls to make that one gl. So If my system evaporates one gl per day, then just for top off I am using around 124 gls per month not including my new water I make up. Over the past month I've been making up at least 50 gls per week because of the frequent water changes that I had been doing. I'm backing off to once or twice a month now.

I hope that make a little more sense now?

Thankyou Miss Moderator! ;) I guess I need to start up a library. I don't have any of these sites saved so thanks for your link. I probably need to review it myself.

It also depends on the type of unit you are using and if you use a pump with it or not. You can get a permeate pump that will allow your unit to work more efficiently. I'm not sure what the ratio comes out to be when using a pump.

For other questions you can log on to Air Water and Ice (AWI) which is one of our sponsors. E-mail any question you might have to Walter and he is very speedy about getting back with you. I have their Dual Home unit-6 stage and have been very pleased with it.
