New 125 gal community reef to be. Not ready for sump and all. Will be going with a rena xp4 450gph canister filter. and to Koralia's Evolution 1400gph is this enough. Thanks in advance.

Depends a lot on what you want to keep in the tank Shoebox

it works out at 26 x tank volume for flow
so that seems OK in a FOWLR and also for a tank with mainly soft corals in
the only concern would be dead spots as 2 power heads and a return over a tank that big may result in areas of very low flow
so monitor this and consider 1 or more smaller power heads that you could add to compensate for this should it occur

but if you wanted more flow demanding species like SPS in the future you may well need to increase the number of power heads you have

Ok thanks Steve and powerman. I have seen a calculator for stuff does it do water flow? as far as the sump It sounds like a ton of work a huge pain and I guess I am whining. Dont rally have the roon in the cabinet. But it is not off the list. I would have to use a overflow box. Thanks I guess I need to do some more reading. If you start your cycle without it and ad a sump do you start over.

Put it to you this way: your only regret from going with the biggest sump you can afford NOW would be financial. The stability and flexibility in filter/equipment options that a sump brings are priceless IMHO.

Your regrets by getting a sump later: numerous. It will be a pain if you have to break down/move the tank to install. You will always be struggling with canister filter/power filter maintenance. Your tank will not have the same aeration, also you will only be able to get a HOB style skimmer.

To answer your question - no, you would not start the cycle over if you added sump later. That is just as long as you are not adding any rock that has to be cycled or sand. If you are just adding water - you will be totally fine.

But give serious thought to the feasibility of going with the sump now.

Well I already have the tank, Its not drilled The stand would not allow for a bottom drilled tank anyway. So if I went sump It would be with a overflow box. Do these not work.

HOB overflows work totally fine. Just do not get the "weir" style that require a suction pump.

Eshopps overflows have been used for a long time and without fail when maintained properly. Same goes for any drilled tank as well...

OK thanks I will do some more reading. Will have to look for a place to put a sump. The tank should be up and running the weekend, so I have 4-6 weeks to decide.

I added my sump later on in my setup and wished i had done it initially. Much easier that way. I really regret not drilling my tank when i had the chance. You don't have to drill the bottom btw.
