I am not sure where to post this but here looked good. I did a search and couldn't find an answer to this. I have a 45 gal long how much water flow should i have? I will have corals (hard and soft).
    Thanks

Well, I don't know if there's a correct answer to this question, but, I will tell you what I have.

1200 gph in a 38 gallon tank. 2 Koralia #1's (400 gph each) and another 400 gph from my skimmer, hob filter, and sump/fuge return. Gives good water movement in my tank, and I could still go with even more without it being ridiculous.

Dan, depending on what kind of hard corals you have I would shoot for 20X turn over per hour. If you have many SPS corals that number should be higher.

    Hope that helps!

I purchased two Koralia-3s here just recently. My original set up was my return in one corner pointed toward center with maxijet pointed parallel to the back of the tank. So taking that into consideration, I placed the Koralias in two-thirds up the tank on both sides (two thirds the way back WRT the front). Then I pointed them toward the center front.

This gave me kind of a circular motion of flow that is 'interupted' by my second Koralia....which creates a wave effect.

In terms of dead spots, you are going to want spots in your tank that don't have so much flow. Some corals do not like the water moving at a thousand miles an hour past it. Right now, I am having problems placing my Xenias so that the flow is not pounding them too hard.

Your fish will appreciate it also. My hawkfish was doing great until I put the Koralias in. Not enough dead/slow spots for him. I will have to trade him in.......bummer. John.
