I’m not sure if this is the right spot to post this. Yesterday I posted in the algae section and I got some great advice but I started thinking that I use decloranated tap water and I think I remember reading that using tap water can really make your algae bad. So my question is there a water purification system out there? I think it’s a filter or something that puts the pure water into a barrel then u put the barrel water in your tank instead of tap water. What is that called? Sorry this got long. Thanks in advance!

    Reverse Osmosis / Deionized

    RO/DI

Or Just the RO if you don't want the additional filter

You can use those filters to fill up say a 30 gallon rubbermaid garbage can and have water at the ready for changes or top offs.

Yep, thats pretty much it. I add just a touch of prime to the water just to make sure its all declorinated. You can find them on under the sponser section here on 3reef. (I've heard they got really good prices :) )

Or you can always check ebay.

Bad water goes through one tube and good water goes through the blue tube

bulkreefsupply.com has great prices for RO or RO/DI units. You will need to change the filters ever 6 months or so (about $25 bucks depending on what you get).
