I would say a controller with a wavemaker option since this will come with other added benefits such as pH and temp. probes. I would say a Korallia Evolution PH would work well in conjunction.

Lots of people would consider the Vortechs the best.

I would go with Korallia, Tunze or Seio for a smaller reef tank

A 20$ trip to the raidoshack and about 30mins and you got your self a fully adjustable wavemaker that you can run with any power head.

I will list parts if you want ?

Ok i found a better way that anyone can do. get a led strobe light and the wires going to the leds are cut and now hooked to a mosfet and then you run 120 across it so it turns on and off at what ever speed you set the it.

I got mine form the dollor store and the fet form a dead power supply so about 2$ for the parts and 5$ for a box.
