You could also do a closed loop with a Poseidon Titanium Pump and an OceansMotions unit. The pump is super quiet and the OceansMotions makes no noise. With this setup you wouldn't have to worry so much about heat transfer, especially if you aren't running a chiller.

I have the Tunze single controller and turbelle pump. It's really nice and there is no pump clicking. It also has a feed button and the optional light sensor to turn the pump down at night. However I do wish the delay between the high and low settings could go just a little longer.

hmm thanks for all the input all. However i dont know to much about closed loop systems, and i was really looking into the Tunze single controller.. but i think i should wait cause the wife will kill me if i spend 800 on a tunze kit, (reflects on current poll) so i might just go with some decent maxijets on Timers, and save up for a tunze kit that i can use in a bigger tank within a few years.

I hear that......them suckers cost some coin. I got the wavemaker I have from a lady who was moving. She sold me her Corals and fish, 5 gallon bucket salt ( IO salt ) a nice expensive magnet scraper, about 200 bucks in additives and misc, a salinity refractometer, 4 Maxijet 1200s, and the wavemaker pro.
    All for 75 bucks.

If anyone lives in washington....she has a new 90 gallon acrylic tank with nice oak stand and hood with 4 110 watt VHO,s, A aquaC remora and hag on the back for carbon. All for 400 bucks....oh yea she also has 500 bucks worth of aregocrete sculptures bought from Garg ( paid 500 for this ). She said she will sell all of this for 400 bucks. I have no room for this unless I take down my tank and move all my stuff and I dont want to do this till I find the right tank I want liek a 180 or 200 gallon.

She said she followed their bullet proof system but when I asked her if she put any liverock in or livesand she said no...DUHHHH. The only liverock was from coral rubel her corals came on.

ya the rios make a little clicking noise when they come on but not to bad.my euro-reef skimmer is cs12.I have the big rios so you'll need smaller ones for your 55.I like the red sea wavemaker 4 setting on how much waves you want.I have mine on the rotate setting it goes through all the settings.
