So this is what I was thinking.

I work all day long and would like to enjoy my aquarium at work. So I am thinking of setting up a web cam in front of my aquarium and having a viewing on my office computer.

Has anyone done this? I am not an expert but have knowledge of computers and software at an intermediate level.

So anyone that has this set up or has attempted it let me know

I'm sure it could be done, doubt you'll get any work done though (maybe thats the point?)...;D

Or better yet, start up a nano at work, like a 5-10 gal. I would LOVE to do that once my large tank is more established.

The slickest way: use an IP cam in your home, configure a smart phone app to work with it (ie - iCam).

You could substitute an IP cam for a regular webcam, but this means you need a computer for it to be tethered to.

Well I do like that idea - but I have two computers at home and a laptop. The computer at home could just host the web cam - I was thinking of using remote desk top - not sure if it's doable.

If you have a laptop you can buy a decent webcam (or use integrated one) and use ustream to stream it on the net for free.

Otherwise IP cam works as well, but more pricey if you already have the above requirements.

Bonus, there's an android (and probably iphone) app for it which is pretty cool.

Which app is it? I searched the droid app "market" and came up with 3 similar results - Ustream Broadcatser, Ustream, and Ustream Viewer.
