i was just curious to know what does everyone have their skimmers set at (mainly interested in the set-up for a remora) and which of the above do you prefer? what are the benefits of allowing your skimmer to produce dry (less wet) or wet skimmate? does one or the other allow for the removal of more/less nutrients? thanks.

I have a Remora and a Remora Pro. They tend to produce a wetter skimmate.
There tends to be a belief that a dry skimmate is better but this is not necessarily true from what I have read. The only real difference is that you will just be pulling more water out of your tank.

Dry(darker) skim is more concentrated, looks and smell nastier. If you set the same skimmer wet say the color of weak tea it get more pollutants out than the same skimmer running dry. It really comes down to how much you want to screw around adding top-off. I know some bb sps keepers that run huge skimmers real wet and they can go 2 week in between cleaning their glass.

    I like it wet.

    Skimmate too.

A little darker than Starbucks green.

With what I've heard about Remora's you are going to have a tough time getting anything other than a wet skimmate.

Upgrading the pumps on the remora's will give you a drier skimmate

i'm running a mj1200 on the standard remora so i suppose i'll just play with level until i find something i'm happy with. if all else fails i'll just upgrade the pump...thanks for all the input everyone.
