no it won't make it through the night. time to run to your local grocery store or whatever is open and buy a few cords. about 4 hours is as long as you want to go without some kind of air being put into the tank. I'll find a good site on how to replace a recepticle I'm serious it's not hard to do. do it tomorrow after you've slept and cleared your head about your day. Hey..I'm a grandma and I fixed my AC this past summer! If I can do that, you can fix a recepticle! Yes I would not reuse the recepticle. salt doesn't just go away and if you heard sizzling then it's frying inside whenever you make power run through it.

Update: The Morning after the Disaster:
Sorry cuttingras, I left my tank for the night, I was so tired and stressed, I decided to go to bed, I had worked all day and was exhausted.

So I woke up this morning and decided to give it another shot.
I have two powerstrips, and after plugging it the first one, it turned on, no sizzling no noises. Plugged the second oneand nothing, try pressing the button on the power strip and nothing. So all I need to do is get another powerstrip.

And after yelling at my stupid BF this morning, when he gets home from work we are going to put a new outlet into the wall that trips itself if it gets wet, I think it would probably be a wise thing to do.

Thanks everybody for all your help.

Again my stress level is through the roof, I feel like I'm on the edge of a SW tank meltdown. Just got back from Lowe's and LFS to get a new surge protector to replace the own that blew, and a new powerhead for the same reason.
Got home hooked the new protector up and it doesnt fit in my wall outlet!! I have two and they both have larger plugs that go into the wall outlet and you can only fit one or the other.

I am so ready to give up, I would honestly like to punch a hole in something right now- mainly that stupid wall outlet. Why are they so small?!!! When they put them in do people not realize that not all plugs are small sized.

New update- the BF installed our new GFI wall outlet, and got some type of adapter to fit both my powerstips! Yay....

But of course bad luck strikes again for me(and just when I thought it couldnt possible get any worse)... well it did!

Plugged my canister in, and it doesnt work. Tried like 3 different outlets and its broke. It was a pretty crappy one to begin with, and I had planned on replacing it eventaully on my own time-not when I don't have any money to do it! So back up to my LFS I went, probably just going to get a better canister.

Please, hopefully nothing else will happen- I am begging, I can't afford one more disaster!!

Have you tried cleaning the impeller assembly on your canister?

Everything is up and running but the canister. I just recently did a thorough water change where I clean all the equipment. This was done maybe only 2 weeks ago. Like I said the canister was a piece of junk, it sounded like it was going to die at any moment and it sounded like that from the first time I plugged it in.
