    1)what is DH?
2)yes it was a liquid test kit

so ph is not as important as people make it out to be in saltwater? At 8.6 the ph is fine? why did the fish go bully up when i put in the selter water?

I think there was gonna be a 'k' in there- dKH/alkalinity would be my guess:)

ph is important, but life can acclimate to a wide range. The more gradual, natural fluctuation is easily tolerated, but I've seen fish go into shock immediately after excessive artificial pH adjustments.

Looks like you've already hit your reset button with a wc or two. Hope all is well,

I keep mine around 10 to 14 dHK. Never put anything in your tank unless you are sure of it's outcome. I would have use two or even three test kits before I would make a move like that.

Hope all else is well? I would make more water for another change soon.

When you put Seltzer or Baking Soda in a tank to solve a problem, ALWAY ALWAYS ALWAYS Mix it in R/O water first and pour it in near a high flow area slowly.

What likley happened is you pored it in such a high concentrate, and the curious fish sqam right ito the dump. This is not a good outcome.

Always mix and know what you are adding and what the outcome will be.

Again, 8.6 is not and SOS situation. Next time deal with it slowly witha small water change.
