what is this?

I found this in my refugium this afternoon. It is like a polyp. It has tenticals about a half an inch long. They are brown. Is it an aptisia? it retracts. The crazy thing is it is growing out of the algae. It is kinda hard to see, with all the algae around it. View attachment 12271

Good call ten acre woods, it is an invasive anemone and must be removed/killed. Without sounding cold blooded!!

Bad news, watch out for the planula that they released when threatend!!

can I just grab a clump of algae with it to remove?

 

as long as you get base of aptaisa you can.

Excellent. Good catch. And for future notice. If they are attached to a rock, do not rip it off. They will reproduce bigtime and your tank will be full of them. I inject mine with Kalk mixture I do myself.
