What kind of worms

    Just noticed these as I was staring at my tank in the dark. They are obviously only out when the lights are off.

    Those are the arms of a brittle starfish that is keeping its oral disc (body) hidden in the rock and only reaches out with its arms to find food particles. Its harmless.

    I agree with Chuck, at first I was thinking bristle worms until I opened the pic all the way and could see it twas the tenticles of a star. That's a good hitchhiker.

    Actually, some to think of it a Bristle worm isn't bad either, just a tad ugly. They got a bum rap years back when people didn't understand them and they were assumed to eat corals, clams and fish. Most over these days people recognize this to not be true, still people go out of thier way to rid a tnk of them.

    Your Bristle star will come out during the day as well for feeding - look for him on the next feeding.
