I'm not really sure where to put this thread but, here it goes. Ok so i have already made a thread of what I plan to do when/if I upgrade. Instead of posting what i am thinking of doing, I want to ask how would each one of you personally approach this project. I have an Idea of what i want to do,but I think I am at a standstill. My only guidelines are I will have a 180-250gal tank with a 55 gal refugium and I know I want LED lighting.(I also already own a RODI system.)

    What should I do list.
-Size of tank in the range of 180-250gal
    -pumps?
    -skimmer?
    -powerheads?
    -reactors?
    -controllers?
    -which LED lighting?
    - set up in diy fuge?
    -Closed loop?
    -UV filter?
    -Heating?
-Cooling(I may not need it, but what chiller would y'all buy?)
    - Anything else you want to add or I'm forgetting?

So i'm guessing you're going to have a separate sump? Where will it be located

No not necessarily. I really don't know what I want to do with the sump/refugium, I know I want it to have a refugium though. Any Ideas of how you would set it up?

I would personally make the 55 into a sump with as big of a refugium as you can fit, but hey if you have the room you can make the 55 a refugium with a separate tank for sump and just plumb them together, all depends on how much room you have

Yep thats pretty much what I was thinking. I do not think I will be able to fit a separate refugium but, hey you never know. I do have a 30 gal lying around that I could probably use, I'm not sure about the dimensions of it though.

Drill the 55 and have it as a display fuge with macro algae and mangroves and all sorts of neat critters. Get a rubbermaid stock tank to act as your sump having your fuge and tank drain into it. That is what I would do ;)

I would either do what ingtar_shinowa would do or depending on if you could fit it get a 75 gallon as a sump with a good portion of it being a fuge and the rest for the skimmer and returns pump and whatever else you want/need.

As for your list...are you asking what equipment I personally would go with for a tank of that size? skimmer, lights, pumps, etc....

But ive read that alot of 55 gallons cant be drilled due to most companies using tempered glass so check that out too.
