For my birthday I am going to start a small species tank and was wondering what you guys think I should do. What I was considering was either, a peacock mantis shrimp tank, a pair of harlequin shrimp, or some moon jellyfish.

If I did the mantis I would house it in a 20g acrylic tank with a HOB filter

If I did the pair of harlequin shrimp I would house it in this

And if I did jellyfish I would get this tank here

The jellyfish look really cool! But.... I think i would instead get some nice, new coral!!

All great choices but I would stay away from the jellyfish just because I don't know that much about them and you don't see them sold much. I might try the upside down jellyfish in a species tank though.

Do you have any experience keeping jellies? I know these are a unique animal, but while I like jellies, I would do a LOT of research before even considering keeping one.

Too much work, I am mostly leaning toward the harlequin shrimp just for the fact that I like that nano and I could still have coral in there. For feeding I planned on just keeping 3 or 4 choco starfish in the fuge on my main tank.

That's another reason I am unsure about the jellies, I don't know much about them and it seems like a big commitment

are the moon jellyfish tiny and kinda glow in the dark? I saw them at the Aquarium and they were awesome!! If they are those, definately do the jelly fish.:)

Or the seahorse (even though that was a suggestion and not one of your choices.;))

Upside-down jellyfish, look like leather tree coral. lol.

The harlequin shrimp would be neat too. They only really eat starfish though.

I would say mantis IMO just because they are cool and they have more information about them and do well in a tamk. The jellies are cool but who knows what they will do int the long run. the shrimp are cool to but there feeding requirments are a bit to nature orenited for my taste. just my 2 cents. have fun with whichever you choose ;D

...are they serious(jellyfish Art .com)? That tank does not seem like a suitable environment(to me) for jelly fish...lol. I would think jellies need a lot of swimming room, don't they?
