Hello Everyone and happy new year.....just a quick question...I have a sailfin tang in my 60 gal. and have recently noticed that it looks like something is eating it fins..the only things in there with him are a sandsifting star a pacific blue tang a clown fish and a couple snails and a sally lightfoot...i have always thought the sally lightfoot was totally harmless but could this be the culprit? anyone know.........thanks

How are the fins on the other fish?

    - I am just trying to rule out if it may be a water quality/health issue that could cause fin deterioration.

Ya I will second Matt's water quality questions. How are you ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate levels.

If it is just a bite or maybe a tear from getting caught in rock the fin should heal back in the missing areas in 3-4 days and then in a week you should not see any history of the drama. At least that is my experiences.

My yellow tank's top fin is all spiked. The first 2 or 3 sections are together then there is a rip or missing fin to where when he raises his top fin up only the first 3 or so raise and the others can't because they are not connected. He looks great other than that as well as the other fish. I'm guessing he either tore it from fighting when I introduced my threadfin or it's from my water being far from perfect --- I really need to get a ro/di.
