    They are fine.

    Did the image of them on the link look similar to your red object?

    Forams are one of the basis of the food web. IDK how they affect aquarium tanks though.

    ya me either. im new to all this salt stuff. ive kept 4 fresh water tanks and cichlids so i took a plunge today and started a tank.

    It's very common to see them in new sets up, sometimes it's the first thing your notice especially against the backround of the white rock. They are harmless. They are hard to the touch and you can cut your self on them when working with rock.

    I am not sure that is entirely what it is though.
