    Is this red thing a coral? if so what kind

    also dont know if its that clear on this picture, but i have 2 clear upside down looking umbrellas growing, i circled it in red. is this a worm? or a Coral?

    I have a couple of those red things on my rock too. I think they were leathers before they died off, maybe I'm wrong though. Mine hasn't grown at all over the last 4 years so I assume it's not alive anymore.

    Sorry, I just had to. He edited the post but at first it was only the first picture with no other explanation or words.

    The upside down umbrellas are feather dusters. A good sign that your rock is indeed "live". The other pic, I can't tell. Looks like it could be a coral or maybe cyano. Is it possible to get a clearer pic?

    Yup, sorry about that, it wouldnt let me place any text in when i added the picture.

    I can get a cleaner pic, ill post it later. I dont think its cyano because its not encrusted on the rock, its growing from the rock. What do i need to do for the feather dusters to keep growing? how long does it take them to grow to full size?

    Those feather dusters will stay that size. They're not like the big ones you see for sale in stores. There's nothing you have to do for them. They will just live on filtering the water for nutrients. Less is more in their case.
