when starting a 2nd marine aquarium, is it considered a good idea to add water from my first tank or should I just throw piss in it to hurry the cycling along? And the both are display tanks.

Take a few cups of sand and a few lbs of live rock from the established tank and place it in the new tank. This should allow more bacteria to spread during your cycle. I wouldnt worry about adding water from one tank to another. Most of the bacteria colony is in the substrate and live rock

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
IMO there is not enough beneficial bacteria in the water column to make a difference. I would go with the ammonia source and let nature take it's place.
