If you had the money to buy one thing for your reef which one would you choose. Skimmer-Reactor-Apex JR controller. I run GFO in my canister and carbon. Thanks in advance.

What kind of reactor? A calcium reactor? If its for a 125g, I would go for the calcium reactor.

Thanks to all I don't really have a calcium problem. The reactor would be for GFO and or carbon. I was thinking maybe this skimmer. Reef Octopus Hang on the Back 2000 OCT BH2000. Any input

Skimmer should be #1 in your shopping list. every time I empty my collection cup I'm about to vomit just cuz of smell of skimmate, you can manually dose 2 part instead of a reactor, but if you don't have a skimmer - things can go bad. I got CPR aeroforce - pulling crap really good, can't go wrong with Reef Octo or Remora anyway. I do vsv once a week and it helps me a lot, for the last 3 month I never seen any type of algae in my 28g.

I won't even run a pico reef without a skimmer!

    My essentials list is:
    - Skimmer
    - Ozone generator
    - Purigen

    :)

Right now I do not have a skimmer. The tank is 5 months old everything is growing and looks happy. starting to get some unwanted algae and wanted to make the water cleaner so that is the reason leaning toward the GFO and Carbon reactors. Thanks to all.
