    Well, you don't really need to pick out a male, unless you want a terminal phase male. A female left alone will turn halfway to male.

    The Hoeven's is from the Halichoeres genus. I would say with a Mandarin you can keep one Halichoeres wrasse in the tank. They will eat whatever you put in the tank.

    Ohhhhh ok, I see now...I think I am still going with the melanurus because after my mom saw it, she demanded I get it haha

    With all due respect John, as I know you know your stuff, this is not true. I have two Halichoeres alongside four Cirrhilabrus wrasses in my tank. These two species will coexist just fine. And in case you might be wondering, all of the Cirrhilabrus were in the tank prior to the introduction of the Halichoeres wrasses. Besides this point, I agree with what you've stated.

    Agree, and yes, they are very easy feeders.

    Personally, I would not do a leopard wrasse in a 60g with a Mandarin. I think you'll have some long-term problems keeping your pod population sufficient here.
