Plans for my new 75 were to have a good sized school of Carberryi Anthias.

But the more I look at the wrasses I'm leaning towards them. But I'm having a hard time finding straight information on which spp. will co exist without tearing each other apart. I'd like to have flashers.

    Any input is helpful.

You know, funny you bring this up, as I've been planning a long overdue thread regarding "all about reef-safe wrasses"...

Anyhow, a 75 will support most reef safe species. In general, the following genus will mix just fine: Cirrhilabrus, Paracheilinus, Halichoeres, and/or Macropharyngodon. A mix of various species within one genus is fine also (some exceptions do apply).

For flashers (Paracheilinus), you really can throw whatever species you want together. A male of one species will flash and display at another. Sure, they may be some chasing from time to time, maybe even an occasional fin nip, but very very rarely will one actually bully the other into a slow death. A harem of one species is another good option, but females can be hard to find. Also, there's no guarantee a female will stay female...

Thanks! That is more straight compatibility info in a couple paragraphs than I've been able to find during hours of searching. K+

And the few I've come across are damned expensive...in one case more than the male.

Word. I'd put that write up in my bookmarks for sure.

blue head and blunt head are nice. a bit bigger than fairy and flasher wrasse. if you have a DSB a yellow, yellow and purple, leopard, potters, blue star leopard, and sea grasse wrasse are cool.

Be prepared with those Carberryi Anthias, they lose color almost instantly.. Even with multiple daily feedings of just about everything under the sun.

LOL, Didn't realize it was one or the other... Yah I loved my school of Carberryi, but they do not hold weight at all, and color disappeared so fast it was shocking.. Even with a drip of live brine shrimp. I suppose my choice of wrasse would be the Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse.
