impressive Ctaig!

 

I hate u....no really i do....thats so not cool to say to me when my fishies r hurting...bet that is cool...i think they r doing a little better i just hope the larger one does not have velvet...it looks more orange than yellow so...is velvet a bright yellow or?

I do have to agree I don't think that Craig meant to be mean he has been a lot of help to me and sometimes he is a little blunt but he is only being honest and as I said I wouldn't think he would ever intentionally be mean

.....I breed clowns in 10 and 20 gallon tanks. Done it with perc's ans ocallaris. VERY rarley see a 4" pecula., dont want to start an intense discussion but a pair of percula clowns should to fine in a nano cube as long as they are the only fish and intelligently vcared for, ive actually found it much harder to get them to breed in larger tanks. " per gallon rule is way too vague, bioload capacity should be stressed more, with that much LR and LS he sounds goodtogo if he gets healthy specimens. As for skimming, i only needed one when i cut back on water changes. As for honesty......i couldnt honestly say that any " per gallon rules are remotley true(extremely rough guidlines that are too subject to variables of different setups...ect.), all my sucessfull systems fly in the face of them and would be laughed at if i preseted them as something i wanted to do to any avid aquarist. Cubes get thrown outta whack if you arent consistent and incredibly observant of water parameters, I wouldnt attempt to keep more than one fish ina cube unless youve had lots of experience (hands on not research or hearsay like this) with micro-reef/fish systems. It can be done but it must be done great attention to detail. Im rambling please bear with me.....i sort of side with craig in the fact that you personnaly may be overstocked if you arent keeping up on your system with OCD like attention (cubes crash easy especially in the summer....2 small fish max normally). And you may not be due to the fact that your fish developed parasites. Put em in a seperate tank and treat them with parasite meds, let the tank sit for a month before putting them back in. I would use copper based meds if the ailment isnt severe (copper meds take a while to work). I just realized i sounded way too defensive of the overstocking issue...i find stocking limits to be purely circumstantial to the care and intelligence of the aquarist. Lionking i would start fresh or prepare for a month long battle (minimun) if i were you, sounds like your fish were bad before you got em.

My above post was an answer to this specific question.  Certainly no offense meant.  I've had three tanks with no ich or velvet, knock on wood.

5 gallons is an industry standard from which to start.  All tanks are different, but it is better to add in the future than overstock at the present time.  As Matt says here "Go slow and let it grow", a very wise mantra  Bioload is a large determinate and so is the maturity of the tank which is corallery to the bifiltration capacity.  I always error on the safe side with my recommendatons. ;D

Sad news i just found one of the clowns dead and the other is not looking so good...to all that want true perculas- GET TANK BREED...wild caught r way to delicate...i aclimated them for so long and they still get ich...anyone have anything to say why a fish, properly aclimated, would get ich in the first week???...i guess the stress of going from the ocean to a tank really gets to them...o well...even if the smaller one survives how good a chance will it find another mate?...i think it is still a juvi so...i still have hope...if it lives ...and even my Regal Tang got ich when they got it and he is all better now...he used to be an ich magnet but now hes ok...pray for my living baby plz...
