Is colored 100% silicone reef safe? I am using the clear version and it is reef safe. I want to use the white to "paint" a few baffles so no light gets through them. This way I don't have to worry about paint flaking and what not.

If it has the mildew inhibitors it is not reef safe. It has to be 100% silicone without any additives.

    no good.
The silicone you posted is "mildew resistant" = bad chemicals you do not want in you DT!

Some companies make black reefsafe silicone. Not sure which ones off hand . . .

You are correct. The thing that throws me is "This product is not recommended for below the water line". Being 100% silicone though, should be fine, as that's exactly what aquarium safe silicone is.

The white may turn yellow though:

No offense, but why would you want white silicone?

I read that thread and since I don't have to look at the sump, I really don't mind.

To block the light and I couldn't find black. Its not like I have to look at it so, for all I care it could be hot pink.

According to the link you posted:

"GE Silicone I is a good one part mildew resistant general purpose silicone sealant."

From the bit of searching I did, you have to use the one labeled for "Window and Door". The "Kitchen and Bath" has the inhibitors.

ge 2 has a bioseal actually i think all silicone has bioseal but i think it has to do with the strength of the bioseal. also anything that has kitchen and bath on it stay away from it. i was told window and door is ok to use in either ge 1 or 2. but imo keep it safe all together and go to your lfs and get the silicone there.
