I have a long tentacle plate I picked up last week that seems to be getting closer to my clam than I am comfortable with. I tried to get the squamose to hold on the rockwork above where it is, but it just kept hopping down right where the plate is.

Now the plate and clam are about 5" apart on the sand and the tentacles are getting really close to the clam. Should I move the clam (again), or is this something to not be worried about?

Yes plates can sting. They pack a fairly potent sting too. I would try to move one or the other.
