This is an unidentified worm. I've never seen bristle worms before until the other day and realized this didn't look the same. So I'm pulling up pics from what I thought was my first bristle worm but I believe I was wrong now after seeing an actual bristle in my tank this morning and talking with a fellow reefer.

What is this and how alarmed should I be?

+1 Eunicid worm. Worse of the worse when it comes to bristle worms. NOT REEF SAFE IN ANYWAY!

Sweet so that could explain why my star polyps on that rock fail to spread as fast as my others... And why every time they seem to sprout new ones they disappear...

That problem is solved now though... I saw him today when i put my new corals in my tank that I just got in the mail. Must have been hungry.

Needless to say... He ducked back in the rock and i immediately yanked it out of the tank... Went in my garage and grabbed a flat screwdriver and a hammer....

My rock is rubble now but i did frag the one star polyp I had left...

Oh and I found him.... Because I didn't stop till I did... I'm willing to sacrifice one rock over my corals...

Well here are some pics as well...

If I had one... I would consider it because I'm not one to normally kill things.

Debating if he should meet my other fish... If I knew he wouldn't hurt them...

I saw someone on these forums that had a 4 footer in their tank.

Your an animal, destroying your rock. Good job, I would have tried removing the rock to a bucket and trying to coax it out. But might have ultimatly smashed the rock.

I wouldn't chance feeding your oscars a bristle worm.

Yeah I decided against it because who knows what could happen. Anyway, thanks everyone for the positive ID's. I was pretty sure that's what it was but my lack of experience made me second guess myself.

    Thanks again!

Oh BTW, I didn't just jump straight to the bashing :p

I set the rock in freshwater for about 10-15 minutes first trying to get him to evacuate... :(
