Yeah, the LFS will take them.
Are these mini brittles or full sized serpent brittles?

You shouldn't have to spot feed Spike, mine darts out from his perching spot to capture food with no problem, they're extremely fast and feed much like Hawkfish. The lfs where I got mine has them often and labels them Pygmy Hawk, I've seen them called this on some vendor websites also.

I wouldn't worry too much, I have a large green brittle star(thought to be fish hunters) that wouldn't hurt a fly.

He's still really shy and won't come out to eat, so I'm spot feeding him. I'm hoping soon I won't need to. It sure makes feeding time more involved and time-consuming! He's starting to catch on that when I come over and the other fish start going crazy it's time to eat, so he comes to the front of the tank, but he still won't come up to eat. He still isn't even brave enough to come off the bottom of the tank at all during the day.

I just got a farily decent sized brittle (blackish brown) that I just put in my tank today. I would think that most healthy fish would be too fast for it.

They are creepy. Especially when they crawl on your hand.

I got one becuase they are good at cleaning up excess food and detritus :) Good scavengers. I will be very shocked if he eats a fish in my tank - unless that fish is dying. I wouldn't worry too much.
