a big water change with reef crystals will spike the ALk and Ca causing more problems

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I agree with Alex regarding how to proceed in addressing the water chemistry swings and numbers.

Worst mistake I ever made was: Believing that fresh water baths were a effective treatment for marine ich. Lost a number of fish over the early years.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm gonna do small water changes every other day until this comes down and keep an eye on my alk and calcium. Thanks chris, going through a lot at the moment and this doesn't help.

    Sorry to hear DSC,

I've never used the 'aqauavitro' products. I also got some of the 'purple up'= for free at a frag swap- a small little bottle.

Whatever the dosing said on it, I only added about 1/2 a cap full- about 2.5ml every few days. I didn't see any chages + or -.

I only test params every 3 - 4 weeks also. They've been very stable with my KISS systems and principles- no controller, no dosing pumps, heavy bio load, etc.

I'm sure you'll get things worked out soon, and sorry for the demise of some of your corals. Sending some Karma your way, hope it helps- OOOoommmmmm....

Thanks OFK, I really care care and take pride in my tanks. When all these beautiful living corals and fish depend on me to keep them healthy it kills me to know I put them in jeopardy with such a stupid mistake. I will test my params tonight since I did a wc so hopefully all is well. Things looked good this morning.
