well after going to a few local petstores today and saw my about 50 pulsing xenia frags (that actually pulsed) I was amazed.. even commented that my xenia in my tank never pulses.. So I decide it time to turn off my whirlpool (aka 2 sureflows Powerheads) for cleaning.. and what do ya know, my xenia does pulse. just too much current I guess. so anyone out there that has these type of corals, too much current = no pulse.

    just a FYI

    :)

There is a theory that the pulsing is a way to eliminate waste, you may be providing fodder for the continuation of the debate.

Yeah I have a ton of pulsating xenia and yeah too much current and they just blow around. Yeah my stuff pulses like crazy. Its a pretty coral but man I have to trim the heck out of it now.

I also bought some xenia a while back and it seemed to stop pulsing but was in moderate flow. When i turned off my powerheads to do a water change i noticed they were pulsing like crazy. So I just adjusted my flow so it was very light on the xenia and they have been pulsing ever since.

I have my flow set up that every once in a while a random cross current hits it, they seem to like that but for the most part the current is pretty low where they are so the pulse like crazy. Very mezmorizing!

if you only have 2x65w pc bulbs over your 65g tank.. that may be the reason.. Ive know they need to be high up in your low light tank.. can you put them within 5-8" from top of tank?
