I have one question to ask all the pros at 3reef, im a noob8) , and i want to now if a yellow tang would be happy in a 55 gallon. Would it be too small:confused: ? cause i wouldn't want to put a fish that needs more space in a tank that i would not be happy in. Any replies will be recieved like gold to me ( people in petco are no help ).:p

What other fish do you have in the tank? What are the tank dimensions? Petco will probably say that you can keep it in a fish bowl;D

Usually the rule is 1" of fish (keep in mind they grow) per gallon. Tangs usually like long tanks because they like to swim alot. They dart in and out of the rocks.

well its a standard 55 with 4 feet in length 1 foot depth and 2 feet height ( or close to that ) and currently i only have 2 chromis (like 1 1/2 inches each) 1 firefish, a lawnmower blenny, and a blue neon goby (rescued from a failing nano cube). i saw some in a fifty five before and was just wonderin cause there a nice shade of yellow.

You shouldn't have a problem with a Yellow tang in your tank, IMO! Just be cautious of the other fish amounts and sizes and efficient skimming, carbon and water changes will help your water parameter issues!

THANK YOU ALL cause this my first saltwater tank and its like 2 months old, so far no problems, except algae blooms, though i lost a clown who swam into my bubble tip before he was immune to its poisen, and a chromis who had a small case of mouth fungus, which i din't notice when i bought 20 at one time, he he my neighbour likes them and there not a common variety.

WOW, i mean he may be happy if theres plenty of hiding spaces or if he was a delusional fish and thought the reflection inside the tank was a vast expanse into a 4th dimension...wait this isn't geekygroove.com..oops
