I just got a beautiful watchman goby today from the lfs. I would like to eventually get a pistol shrimp in there for him . My two questions are, if my goby establishes his burrow behind my rockwork... is there a way to move him to find real estate in the front? Also, I know I cant guarantee the shrimp and goby to pair up, but is there a way to kind of influence them together?

the goby will probobly find areas he likes better sometimes than others. one way is to buy the goby and pistol shrimp already paired. i think they generally pair up no matter what but it may take time.

I initially got mine as a pair, however, the shrimp decided to travel though my plumbing the first night (obviously didnt make it) - 2 weeks later I got another shrimp and when I put him in the tank, I put him as close as I could get him to where the goby was hanging out. They found each other within 10 minutes.

Some people have had them go for months without pairing up - it doesnt always happen.

I had an already established pistol shrimp, who was alone after our aurora goby jumped. I didn't see him much for a few weeks. I bought a yellow watchman goby, just hoping they would team up. They found each other the first night and have been together now for about 7 or 8 months. Don't worry about the goby's burrow. If he teams up with a shrimp, they will be all over tank!

I would definately try to get a pistol shrimp. They make a great combo and you will see your goby quite often on lookout in the front, back and sides while the "bulldozer" shrimp is working.

I sure hope so, it looks like my goby has found a spot in the middle of a live rock pile. I can just barely see his side when i shine some light between the rocks.

Cool! I just got a blue spot Watchman...here it is already scoping stuff out from a burrow. I can't wait 'til one of the LFS's get a pistol in!

He is definitely starting to get a lot more comfortable in the aquarium!
