Sweet addition! This might sound like a noob question but what are the benefits to pair with a Pistol Shrimp?

To answer that question, i think people just do it because its very interesting to watch them interact with eachother..They kinda defend their little dug out together and the pistol with clean out the hole all the time. I think its just something very interesting.

And You can add it once it gets it whole dugout really, and finds a place to hang out for the most part, that should not take long at all...Probably a couple of days at the most. Then you can add the pistol. Although, dont get your hopes up too high that they will pair up. I had a randalli goby and a pistol for like 3 months and they never paired up..But some say it takes a week or less..and some say it could take months. It just depends on how quick they find each other.

Thanks for the input! I heard if you try putting the shrimp in the tank for the first time rite by the goby for it to hide in his hole that helps.. I'm sure that's easier said then done lol

If you really wanna know the relationship is based on mutual needs. The pistol shrimp is almost totally blind. It is also the true builder and keeper of the caves. The goby is the protector and feeder of the shrimp. Yes the goby will spit food into the burrow for the shrimp. Symbiotic Relationship in it's truest form :)

Yes this guy was the last one left! They had two that came in the day i was shopping around but with them being so small and being stressed from shipping i figured i would hold off a few days.. I came back a few days later to just one left and he was only 14.99 so i couldnt pass up the deal.. So far he is doing good and found himself a little cave under a rock.. Not sure how hard these guys are to keep when they are so small still and having a newer tank but hope he lasts. I plan to try and pair him with a pistol in the next few weeks.
