    dont have to but mine grows faster when i do.....mine will initially close up and reopen quickly as wide as possible to get some more lol....i feed frozen with a turkey baster, normally i mix it in water to melt add some flakes mix and feed my fish the bigger stuff to the fish and the left over tiny particles to my corals(zoas,candycanes, palys, rics, xenia, lobo,etc) and they all seem to love it
