just ro will not remove sillicates from your water this is what i believe your problem is diatom algae, sillicate in the water and others cause this...

i believe the cbb is a med hard fish to keep, i believe the larger the tank the better and he must have a non stressed beginning, i lost my first one...
well the only other input i can think of is the age of the tank imo the tank must have some age to it, the more the better for sps acros
