    so, yeah you can. But i recommend starting off with a bigger tank, 10 gallon is pretty hard to take care of.

    picked up a 40 G, black plastic messed up

    Well, i picked up the 40 today. the glass is clean, but the black plastic/rim is pretty messed up on one of the sides. You guys think i can sand it...

    idk, from my experience LED's work great, they're working wonders on my lps and softies.... but again, anything specifically wrong with that 4 bulb...
