i think sinking pellets and algae wafers are a better bet, feed the CUC like said above when the lights are off.. a pack of algae wafers will cost...
i would not suggest letting flakes sink to the bottom, you are way overfeeding by then.. what i do is actually i bought some hikori sinking algae...
yeah depends on how many bulbs you have, and also how deep your tank is, and how high your sandbed is, i wouldn't place a clam at the bottom of a 21"...
there is a very good chance your flame may start picking at the clam mantles.. i introduced my clam before my blue angel and therefore it is fine...
