I'm not a reef pro, and I'm not sure about the particular makeup of Condys, but in the past I've had several of them (and they lived a LONG time)....
With the partition, and that much rock, will there be any room left for water? I know I'm old, but I just don't get the fascination with the "nano"...
You nuked the cuke?? Don't ever waste one of those. Try slicing it up real thin, and stir frying it with a little olive oil, portabella mushrooms,...
I too had a problem with the tank getting too warm, and a small 6" desk fan from Lowes did the trick. Now my heater kicks on every once in awhile...
Yes, heating is the key. I always mix mine in a cup of hot water before introducing into the aquarium, or whatever you're putting it in.
So, what's amazing about those pics?
I see your point, but I was reading this paragraph (in the very first post) as being the main question: "My other question was how much live rock do...

I remember the first time I had a very large and beautiful ritteri do the same thing, but I didn't have any deaths as a result. I guess I was lucky....
There are some tiny air bubbles trapped here and there, but the stuff seems to come off easily. I woke up this morning to severely cloudy water, and...
OK, I'll just be patient and wait on nature. I have no patience though, so this will be tough!
Just to be clear on the identification of brown diatom algae, this is what we're seeing in our tank after 1 1/2 weeks (only 5 days with fish). I...
Good question! Add me to the list of dummies who would like more insight into this.
