    Personally, 800-900gph is overkill. With a 75g I think 375gph would be plenty and even that is pushing it. Let powerheads do the water circulation...

    For a 90g tank I'd suggest a pump that is putting 300-500gph back into the DT. Any more than that is just waste. Let your powerheads take care of...

    I would turn it up slowly, meaning you do not want a large temperature swing. I usually set mine about 77-78 degrees.

    Exactly--water does not to be screaming through the sump. That's what powerheads are for. My DT is 30g and my return pump puts 120gph from the sump...
