    i think it's Amphiroa beauvoisii Lamouroux. that's really impressive K+. i would have never found that. so it's not dangerous then. thanks a lot.

    i forgot to mention that i have two small hermit crabs in the tank. aren't these supposed to be more susceptible to poor water conditions than fish?

    the pH was at 7.7 since the tank was set up, i tried some baking soda but it didn't make a difference. it didn't swing though.
