    A glass top interferes with oxygen/gas exchange and can effect your pH. Also as stated above they collect evap and get covered with a film of salt...

    I don't think they ever stop growing. I remove any that I see which exceed 4" unstretched just because I dont like seeing them that big.

    They don't eat fish or corals. They are scavengers and will eat a dead fish though. They'll eat trapped detritus in your rocks, left over fish food...
