filter pads is a cool idea. i tend to pile up the pads, etc. over the area of the bubbles to kind of mitigate that and the salt creep the popping...

I would first get dry base rock over live rock for an established tank. But if you really want to go live rock route, I'd still add it all at once....
i might look into doing a toxic tank... sea apples, box fish (i think they actually need a bigger tank though) and maybe an anemone or two. or...
kla - just a tip since you're new. look under 'thread tools' and you have the option to move your thread to the correct location.
is this an established reef tank? I would just add dead base rock. is this a new setup? put all in at once.
I agree with screw on that. My T5's are on legs and have a removable plastic shield... I pull that and clean it once a month and it's just caked in...
my temp dropped 2 degrees more than normal at night last week when the weather changed. And I noticed it... not sure if it's connected or not, but...
my duncans have done that a few times... sometimes i suspect a slight drop in temp but not sure. I wouldn't worry until after 5 days or so...
