    Are you staring at the lamp? Mogul based lamps have some UV protection, whereas HQI does not, if you don't have the UV shield over it and you stare...

    You can't really polish them to make them more reflective, thats a matter of quality of Aluminum... The best thats on the market is 98% reflective...
