i want to start a 10g tank witha few corals and one fish what type of filtration should i use?
and yes do top offs with fresh water, salt doesnt evaporate but when you do water changes do them with saltwater and i agree use RO/DI or reverse...
looks great i wouldnt touch the right side or middle at all the left looks good but it seems a little bland maybe more towers and larger visible...

you usually want to have a 3 coral to one fish ratio to make a reef look good. for stocking order of fish add the least aggressive to most aggresive...
what most people do is put a piece of live rock along with dead rock or base rock (same thing) then during the cycle the bacteria and other stuff...
